 GENERAL INFORMATION

The existing faculty was established in 1967 as a training unit of the College of Animal Sciences, National Agriculture Center. In 1974, it was developed into one of the faculties of Agriculture University. In 1996, it was officially named as the Faculty of Fisheries (FoF) under the Nong Lam University (NLU) in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Faculty of Fisheries was set up to train B.Sc students with three major disciplines in the field of fisheries, namely aquaculture, aquatic resource management and aquatic product processing. Apart from training human resources in the field of fisheries, FoF has also carried out research and extension services for state and private sectors in southeast provinces of Southern Vietnam. There are three primary functions of the Faculty, namely teaching, research and extension to meet regional needs for fisheries development.

To enhance teaching and research capabilities and to improve staff capabilities, the Faculty has established academic linkages with foreign universities, institutions and NGOs such as AIT (Thailand) in the field of aquaculture and curriculum development; CIRAD & ORSTOM (France) in the field of exchange of research and staff members; Auburn University (USA) in the field of information exchange and AREC & Antenna Technology (Switzerland) in the field of extension program.
