Summary
IPM of Sweetpotato Weevil

The sweetpotato weevil is a severe pest throughout the tropical world. Weevils lay eggs in sweet potato storage roots and old portions of vines. These eggs hatch into hungry grubs that destroy the crop.

Weevils enter crops from nearby infested morning glory plants and sweet potato fields, or from infested sweet potato cuttings used in planting.

This pest can be controlled by destroying morning glory plants, using weevil-free cuttings for planting, eliminating soil cracks caused by enlarging roots, and using crop rotation.
