Sowing Eggplant Production |
|
No treatment is needed if you are sowing fresh,
vigorous seed in sterilized soil. Otherwise, soak seeds in warm
water (50°C) for 30 minutes, rinse them in cold water, and
dry them before sowing. Seeds may be further treated with Thiram
to prevent seedling rot. The optimum temperature for germination is at 24° to 29°C. At this temperature, seedlings should emerge in 6-8 days. Use fresh seed; seeds older than 2 years will be less vigorous. |
